Description

This Small Group Companion, Arise, takes its name from Jesus’ words to Jairus’ daughter. When the little girl was near death, her father Jairus begged Jesus to come and heal her. When they arrived, they were told the child had died, but Jesus insisted on going to her. Then, “Taking her by the hand he said to her, ‘Tal’itha cu’mi’; which means, ‘Little girl, I say to you, arise’” (Mark 5:41 RSV-CE).

Our prayer is that in using this Companion your small group becomes an opportunity to take Jesus’ hand, and each other’s as we walk together in hope.

This Small Group Companion includes an introduction and orientation to a Springs in the Desert affiliated small group, as well as materials for ten small group meetings. Each meeting section includes:

  • Opening prayer
  • Introduction or check-in prompt
  • Warm-up question to help everyone wade into the waters of sharing
  • Questions for group discussion
  • Action item
  • Closing prayer

In this Companion, we start with the basics, addressing infertility and the reality of grief, cultivating hope, our identity in Jesus, and more.
