This Small Group Companion, Encounter, will help us to meet Christ together, even as we find ourselves in the deserted land of infertility/loss. At each meeting, we will read Scripture stories that will help us encounter Jesus and grow in faith, trust, and healing. These encounters will challenge us to refocus our gaze from the vastness of our own deserts, to Jesus, the One who is close to us in our pain, and who invites us to trust that He can make all things – even the experience of infertility and loss – new (cf. Rev 21:5).

Our prayer is that in using this Companion your small group becomes an opportunity to take Jesus’ hand, and each other’s as we walk together in hope.

This Small Group Companion includes an introduction and orientation to a Springs in the Desert affiliated small group, as well as materials for ten small group meetings. Each meeting section includes:

  • Opening prayer
  • Introduction or check-in prompt
  • Warm-up question to help everyone wade into the waters of sharing
  • Questions for group discussion
  • Action item
  • Closing prayer
