Description

Free, total, faithful, fruitful: the elements of Christian marriage. We know that sometimes on the path of infertility/pregnancy loss, we could use a reminder of the beauty of our wedding vows. That’s why we’re pleased to bring you these floral elements featuring artwork by Springs contributor Alissa West and calligraphy by Springs contributor Ellie Weaver.

This set of four soft-touch bookmarks include a prayer on the back to help you remember – no matter whether you are doing your spiritual reading, curling up on the couch with your journal, or beginning your favorite novel for the fifth time – that your marriage is good and blessed!

Each flower is uniquely significant:

  • Free: The dandelion is often used to symbolize the idea of freedom, because of the free-floating seeds. The full yellow blossom shows that the couple’s freedom in partnership with God’s grace allows for growth in their lives and marriage.
  • Total: The chrysanthemum grows in such a way that each petal is an individual floret, and each floret makes up one flower head. Similarly, our total gift of self to each other unites us as one in the Sacrament of Marriage.
  • Faithful: The wild mustard flower reminds us of the power of faith and what is possible when we place our trust and our marriages in the Lord (cf. Mt 17:20).
  • Fruitful: The eucalyptus symbolizes strength and abundance, while also signifying the endurance of the marital bond, and our capacity for fruitfulness in many unexpected and wonderful ways.

It is our honor to walk with you!
